1. I would like to know who operates the line that run north from Wadesboro, NC? 2. Does Atlantic Carolina &Western run to the town of Troy, NC?

Currently we operate one train to and from Wadesboro. Train Z209 from Winston Salem usually arrives in Wadesboro between 6:30 and 9:30am on Tuesday,Thursday, and Saturday. From there the WSSB crew goes to the motel for rest while a CSX crew symboled F701 takes the train to Hamlet and brings the outbound train back. WSSB train Z212 usually goes on duty between 10 and 12hrs after Z209 arrived which is usually between 6 and 8pm. The WSSB uses motive power from both NS and CSX on a horsepower hour basis. Each road supplies the same amount. NS power is normally seen on the northern end of the line on extra corn trains and on local Z221 out of Bill Yard. CSX power holds down the Z209/212 trains plus the local Z294 on the HPT&D. Hope this helps.Later Michael Ridenhour WSSB/HPT&D Engineer

NS and CSX still supply the power for the WSSB. This pooling agreement had been used since the early 70s I believe.

1-) The WSSB (Winston Salem Southbound) operates north to Winston Salem from Wadesboro. I do not live in the area anymore so I am not certain if the old power arrangement is still in effect. Used to, CSX (and before CSX, SCL)supplied power for part of the year and then NS (formerly the N&W) the other part of the year. The WSSB acted as a bridge route between N&W and the SAL and the ACL. It was not at all uncommon to see N&W power and a caboose at Hamlet. I do not beleive that WSSB has its own loco's anymore.2-) AC&W is in Troy. This trackage was, of course, the old NS main line from Norfolk, Va to Charlotte.
Hope this info helps.
