Should I go ahead and get it remachined or just stick the new shoes in there?

Nah...no need to alter the drum unless you have deep groves (from running the pad materail off, and using metal on metal). just scuff it up with some emery cloth (sandpaper 120 or 150) clean well with brake clean,( try to get some from 3m its a heck of a lot better and safer than any other esp: Brakleen) slap the new shoes on and go.........
