I just finished logging a buncha dead trees, and when I got done, the thermo said 108 in the shade! No wonder I was so hot...

It's forecast to be maybe 120 down in Redding Calif tomorrow. It's always hot there in the summer, but REALLY!

I've heard it's hot all over the west; how's it at your place?

Sheepish, is it even hot in Washington?

Actually, it's quite pleasant here just now. We've had hot weather for the last couple of weeks (up into the low 90's), with just a slight respite over the weekend (no higher than mid-80's). At this very moment, however, it's 70*F -- perfect for working in the garden (I was hoeing weeds). I LOVE this kind of weather. Unfortunately, it won't last long . . . .

It's been raining and stormin off and on all day.........got wet goin in and out of the car, and got downright chilly.......it was in the 60's today, after a couple weeks of lovely (sorry, I loved it!) hot stuff.

We had an absolutely beautiful day today...76 degrees and a dew point of 46. Sunny with a nice breeze. This was a very welcome change after all the 95+ temps and high humidity that we've had over the last ten days or so. Supposed to be like this for the next four days or so! Love it :-)!!

Hi joj,

Yup, 94 in the parking lot at work when I left around 3:45 this afternoon. That's hot for up here. We've been at that temp range twice this summer so far. We also had about 2" of rain on the 7th (and maybe an inch on the Fourth), but way colder. It was maybe 55 or a little bit higher this past weekend during the day! My vegetables, while confused, seem to be thriving, anyway.

I'm hoping the weather holds this next weekend and longer. We're headed up to Tofino, B.C. Last time I was up there it was glorious! Just like Hawaii (beach-wise), except for fir trees all around (and Canadian money, not necessarily all around!).

Just be glad we're not in Death Valley, California . . . 128 degrees two days ago . . . 127 yesterday. They musta had a cool front come in.

We had a high of 98 yesterday, because of some rain clouds around but in combination with the humidity . . . Jeeeeeeeeeeeezzzuuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssssssss. Just awful. And winters so far away !

joj...Okay, I can really complain about that subject!! Our grass is growing soooo fast....! Too much rain early this summer, ya know, which brings us back to the weather :-)! I'm tired of mowing the grass every week or so. And if we don't keep it reasonably short, we'll have a probem with deer ticks. Maybe I should just fence it in and get a couple of sheep??!! Gonna be a good year for hay in these parts. Some farmers predict three cuttings from their fields!!

Waall now, EARLY ON in the week, it was pretty dang hot - 95* with a heat index of 107*. We finally got the promised cold front and rain - don't know how much rain since we still haven't replaced the rain gauge that the dog ate; but at least it's cooler and all the plants look much happier now. I think it's maybe 79* right now; and looking like it could rain again - I've got the doors and windows open and it feels pretty nice, in spite of the fact that I've been canning most of the morning. Pop is out mowing right now; but just in certain sections of the yard that really need it - he wants to give the grass a bit of time to recover from the heat and drought first.

How 'bout we try "What's fer supper?"

Here's a funny little story from the news this morning:

"Japan Bans Judo Kids with Thin Eyebrows Sat Jul 13, 4:06 AM ET

TOKYO (Reuters) - Six Japanese high school students were ejected from a judo tournament to teach them a lesson after they shaved their eyebrows to a fashionable but intimidating thin line.

Kyodo news agency, quoting organizers Saturday, said the six had been disqualified from a judo tournament in Utsunomiya, north of Tokyo, on the grounds that the current Japanese teenage fad gave them an unfair advantage.

"We have banned thin eyebrows because they are intimidating to opponents and cause displeasure," Tatsuo Kakizaki, an tournament organizer, was quoted as saying.

"We disqualified them as a lesson, to teach them the importance of competing in accordance with the rules."
