AME Today Reunion & 2003 Bishops Council Meetinggreenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
If I'm not mistaken the location for the 2003 Bishops Council will be in Philadelphia, PA. If Philly is the host city it would make sense to me to plan for the AME Today reunion during that time. Think about the possibilities. You can visit Mother Bethel, John Fisher's congregation in neighboring Bensalem, Historic Philadelphia or take a short drive to Wash DC-Baltimore for more attractions. You can even see the church where I got married (Zion Hill Baptist Church 53rd & Spruce). I realize this means postponing this much anticipated event back another year, but, considering the number of folks who do travel to the General Board/ Bishops Council Meetings, I suspect a reunion turnout would be higher if we linked the two together. As an added incentive to having the reunion coincide with next year's General Board, I will personally coordinate a BBQ with the 1st District members of this BB :-) QED

Bill you are a genius!! What a great idea you have. What are the dates for the Bishop's counsel? And since you are coordinating the Bar-b-que we must have some Texas barbeque sauce. So I am hoping our ame today 1oth district family members will get on the plane with barbeque sauce. Now a word of caution do not try to pack a drum to bring for the cook out;-) I have always been told the best barbeque is from Texas. So let's hope Jerryl and Rev. Paris come to make sure everything taste good!;-)

Sis. Denise, Maybe you can also bring along some genuine mesquite. Among the best and most tender BBQ (beef, not ribs) was at the King Ranch near Harlingen (sp?). I've had some so-called mesquite up north here, but somehow, it just has not been quite the same.

LW have you been to Montana? I am not familiar with the town you mentioned. The only town that would come close would be Harlow Montana. I am laughing as I write this because my poor brother Bill Dickens is going to be cooking all day at our reunion;-) But I am sure Bill is good at delegating, so Jerryl and Rev. Paris will probably be called into duty. I personally want some Texas barbeque. Hmm I wonder what Barbara Robinson from the fourth district is going to cook. And I know sister Mary Brooks can cook. Oh, oh we may have to have a district cook off!! What are the dates for the Bishop Council next year. Joy in Christ
