Can someone discribe the proper way to build a feeding station for our fainting goats? for grain and for the hay.we have the goats for over a year now,we have been giving them their grain in a smaller cast iron trough on the floor of thier shed and the hay we serve them off thier sleeping shelf. This hasnt been a problem but we are worried about parasiytes and now have introduced a buck kid to the herd and he gets pushed aside during feeding time.Thanks.

There are several styles of feeders that I use. The best for me, has been a feed trough with stock panel between the trough and the goats. They have to reach through ther panel to eat and can't step in it. They don't waste much hay this way. I feed grain in the same trough. It's a good idea to drill holes in the bottom of the trough so it can drain if it gets rained in or needs to be scrubbed clean, you don't have to lift it up and turn it over. The advantage of this system is that the goats do not mob you when your arms are full of hay; you can feed them from outside their pen, just make the stock panel part of the pen.
