ILFORD PAPER FIXER

Im confused i just started film developing about 3 months ago and im confused about the ilford fixer it says to mix 1 to 4 or 1 to 9. Now does this mean emptying the whole mix into 1 jug and mix it with 4 or 9 parts water with the empty cantainer of fixer, or 4 or 9 parts water measured with a beaker in ML?????? my film is not turning out and im very confused and frustrated. Its not in my devoloper the local paper said my negatives look good and the development looks good but the guy said its my fixer, so am I mixing this wrong? Please help me!!!!!!!!!! JEFF

YOU MIX ONE PART FIXER TO FOUR PARTS OF WATER EXAMPLE 35MM FILM USE 10 OZ OF SUL. = 2.5 OZ OF FIXER MIX IT WITH 10 OZ OF WATER = 12.5 OZ WORKING SUL. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU.
