It's a few days early, but I need to get an early start since I'll be gone the first week of June.This month meditate on how blessed we in the western nations of Canada, the United States, and Western Europe really are. Compared with most of the rest of the world our problems are so small. Even many of our poor are relatively rich, owning such things as cars and televisions.
I've always believed that part of this blessing stems from our Christian heritage. Even with all that was wrong, and is wrong with these nations, they have been the pillars of Christianity for centuries and have been blessed accordingly.
Many peoples are not so fortunate though. Locked in the bondage of false religion they live under customs and laws which are oppressive. The suffer in wars and famines who's causes can be traced to the demonic. When you think of places such as Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan, and India, lift prayers to God that the strongholds of the enemy will be broken off of these people's lives. Pray that the Gospel will somehow reach into places such as Pakistan, China, Nepal, and Bhutan. Pray for the protection of Christians in places such as Algeria, Madagascar, and Indonesia.
As impossible as the situations in places like these may seem, our God is more than able to bring radical change. Remember how quickly the Berlin Wall came down, and how the world change overnight.

Please pray that President Megawati Sukarnoputri will continue to have wisdom, courage, and the military support to prevent further blood shed in Christian communities in Central Sulawesi. Pray that the threat of the Laskar Jihad terrorists will be removed.

Please pray that the Philippines parliament will be successful in cracking down on the separatist reble group, Abu Sayyaf. The country has recently passed laws against money laundering to thwart their activity.

Please pray for seventh graders in a growing number of California public schools who are being indoctrinated with Islam, even playing jihad. Pray that parents and teachers will speak out against this outrageous injustice of teaching Islam as a true religion while refusing to name the Name of Jesus in the classroom.

Please pray for two training programs for missionaries being held in Brazil next week. Pray that many workers will respond to the challenge concerning outreach to Muslims. Praise God for the many third world missionaries who are going to Muslim countries.

Please pray for the Christian expatriates who have been deported to their home countries from Saudi Arabia without legal charges and without legal counsel. Pray that they will find new avenues of ministry and livelihood. Pray for safety for secret national converts who may have been discovered in this exercise.

Please pray for the pastors and their families in Northern Nigeria who were left homeless last year as a result of conflict between Muslims and Christians. Pray that God will bring stability and allow them to rebuild their lives and churches.
