Ravens Teeed Off by Decoy Rubber Duck Eggs?

Collecting the Khaki-Campbell Duck eggs became a contest between me and the ravens last summmer.Often only broken shells were to be found.When I got up to search earlier the ravens were sitting in the trees across the creek awaiting breakfast..I shouted, ran, threw things and even tried shooting only to have the ravens pick up their prize in their beaks and fly off to feast elsewhere.How aggravating it became to hear a croak and see their morning flights over the duck pond twisting their heads back and forth. In September we found a rocky outcrop near a spring 1/2 mile away littered with broken eggshells.

This Spring I promply gather eggs first thing each morning and haven't seen any raven activity yet. On a Mayday walk in the neighbor's woods the boys found two golf balls deep in the trees near a log. When we gave them to Mr. Mason he told us that last fall he'd stood out in his driveway and drove over a hundred golf balls up into his field for practice. The next day he took a bucket to pick them up and was baffled when he could only find seven. He observed the field closely and realized the ravens were flying off with his golf balls.

Hm, that may explain why I find golf balls in my farm field on occasion. Would love to see them trying to peck open a golf ball, or dropping it to shatter the shell. lol.
