Hello... I have just recently bought some property between Versailles and Eldon. I am looking for homesteader types that live in the area and can answer a few questions for me. Thanks for your time , Doug

I just bought a place in Oregon County, near Alton. My neighbors are homestead types, as am I. Will be there most of the summer. They are here visiting this week in Texas. We will be glad to help.

Hey, I plan on coming to the property this memorial day weekend. I live in Kansas and it is about an 8 hour drive. There isn't much info on the net about Versailles and Eldon. Did find some info on Eldon and it looked like a nice town. How many rasberries do you have? It seems like you have been trying to trade them off for a while..lol... I probably will need some. Can i just plant them and leave them? May not be back to take care of them for 5 or 6 months. Thanks for the replies , Doug

spent a year of my childhood in versailles. know there is a large mennonite community in that area. versailles has an apple festival every year, but lived there in second grade, so don't remember what time of year (imagine in the fall, though). was a beautiful little town when i lived there, but visited as an adult a couple years back and everything... just looked smaller (but such is often the case when going back to a place and expecting it to look just as it used to). anyhow, i live near springfield now, and don't think i will be able to answer any area-specific questions, but will help if i can.

I also live north, in Boone County. Yes, big Mennonite community. I shop in Versailles frequently at few of the Mennonite stores, great cheap staples! "Dutch Country" is awesome, we call it the "Bent n' Dent", lol.Know some folks from Eldon as well.

We live east of Morgan Co. ,in Benton. Looks like we got you surrounded..lolWe have only lived here 3 months.
We are slowly trying to homestead, so to speak. Still work our profession.
Currently building our shop, have yet to start our house, (living in a camper) And trying to get the garden in. 3" of rain still has it too muddy, but finally went out and muddied in some plant yesterday.
If any one needs any ticks...I can send you some.
