Can someone help please. I understand the basics of recording macros in Excel and can quite happily write macros to get a spread sheet to sort numerically and stuff like that. What I want to do though, is to write a macro that allows me to repeat the same text in a number of cells. When I try to record the macro all I can get it to do is to put text into one specific cell eg A1. If I want the text to go into cell C3, say, I highlight that cell and press the shortcut keys but it just jumps back to A1 again. Can anyone help me out please?

I'm not sure if I've understood the question Jacko so bear with me.If you record a macro to put the text in A1 then that specific cell reference is in the macro. So my guess is you just edit the macro and take out the specific cell reference to R1C1. No need to replace it with anything - it will default to the active cell which i think is what you want. So, for example, to put the text "hello" into the highlighted cell the macro has only one effective line which is ActiveCell.Formula = "hello" I may have completely misunderstood the question though but.

You're a bliddy genius Jonno. That's exactly what I wanted to do. I can now write kids reports and place the various attainment statements in the right boxes without having to type them all out each time or copy and paste them - which is a palaver. Thanks a lot marra!
