Herman area is a very nice rural area on the western side of MN. It's about 30 miles from the North and South Dakota borders. Morris, which is to the South-east, is less then 15 miles away. Aunt lives in a small town outside of Morris. We spent 20+ years in SD, would love to move back but the economy is very slow there. Spent 10yrs in VA, now are living in Mn for the past 10 years. Each place has been special. Always good points and bad, but you just have to make the best of what you have. If you want it to be home-you have to treat it like home, and look to the good. I didn't enjoy each move, but once settled-started finding the positives of each spot and dwelled less on the negatives. MN is well known for outdoor activities-be prepared for the winters though. Some can be very cold and snowy! LOTS of places to fish-year round. Ice fishing is quite an experience! Many biking trails and lots of State parks.

They made a movie about Herman I think it just came out last year. Does anyone remember several years ago the town advertised for women? I guess women flocked from all over the country to move there. The place was full of single men! I think that is the basis if the movie. Never been there myself.

Well, there is a 4 bedroom house for sale right now. The owner is asking $15K down and it comes with a nonqualifying assumption contract (monthly payments are only $230 or so).
