We always end up taking too much stuff! So leave out everything you are not sure of... But do remember warm things for night time, the air is often damp which makes you colder than you would be in the house!

Everyone has their own definition of camping so it's hard to say. Mine usually is if it can't be backpacked or fit in the canoe it doesn't go. I guess it depends where you're camping, if you're hiking, whether you have water on site, cooking on fire or camp stove, etc.

here's a pic from a January 2 day, 2 night camping/hike back in PA a few years ago. Only about a foot of snow but it got down to 5 degrees the 2nd night which we weren't expecting. I had to convince the two guys with me it wasn't worth walking back down the mountain to the truck in the middle of the night and just stick it out, which we did but it was tough sleeping. Everyone came back with all their toes and fingers. ; )

Hubby has parked the motor home in front of the house--------that is my "hint"--to clean out what we didn't use last year & prepare it as he is getting ready to go & he wants the motor home ready!!!!

We srated with tents---many years ago---then a Pich up camper---a bus- --several trailors---several min-homes--motor homes---

We like something I can move around in while we are going down the road & can make food to eat--etc/etc/--not pull over & go back to the trailor---works best for us at this point in out lives---

Hubby & I both like to camp & go to bluegrass festivals--- etc/etc/etc/---also we use to own motels & you can't pay me enough to stay in one anymore--ha!-in our own motor home this vegetarain--- always has something I can eat----& I'm allergic to all chemicals--- so in my motor home/ with my air purifier---I'm usually safe from the chemicals--etc/etc/etc/---

James it has been way/way---toooooooo many years since we just camped with out a camper--or trailor or motor home----my camping list has yellowed & fallen apart with age-----sorry-----

Bring an extra tarp or tie (if possible) over your tent and eating area in case it's raining.

I'm with you, Dave! I really resent how the parks have been turned essentially into resorts with flush toilets, etc., which is why they cost a fortune to stay at now. At those prices, you can often stay at an inexpensive motel for only a little more.

I usually take stuff like ramen, tea/coffee/hot cocoa mix (homemade of course), oatmeal, etc, that only need boiling water to prepare. Just a coffee can to boil the water in, no frying pans, etc. Use a really well-insulated cup and lid, and let the ramen sit in it to cook.
