In my humble opinion, ever person involved within the Itineracy lives with the possibilty of moving to a new assignment...except the Presiding Elder. Pastors move...Bishops are reassigned; yet, the elder remains. In some cases, districts have benefited. However, there are cases in which the elder remains too long and sometimes hinders the work of churches on the district. What would be the result if there ever was a true system...where even the Presiding Elder would be moved? I was just wondering...

In my Episcopal District and Annual Conference, Presiding Elders are not only retired or moved, but they sometimes are replaced and returned to pastor a congregation. In most instances the Itineracy works for us. it is most often the pastors who are sometime allowed to stay too long for their own good and for the good of the congregation, but we seldom have that happen with our Presiding Elders.

Dear Brother Allen Agree with Brother Mathew I do. Strong and effective leadership should prove the Itenerant Ministry beneficial for us all. Some ought to move faster and some could be challenged if no growth occurs. Be vigilant my Brother God does not want to find us sleeping when he returns.

I have to agree. The Presiding Elders are also appointed yearly. I have seen some appointed to different districts, retired, and also sent to pastor individual congregations again.
