We pulled in last night about 7pm! Fort Scott was great. We spent all day watching and they let John Michael help. He learned how to be a Powder Monkey!!and he got to help clean up the stables. He was so funny, the man asked him how he was enjoying himself, he said, he would have alot more fun if he could do something he didn't have to do at home!!!!LOL. I got to set with some really interesting ladies and help cook! I also got to help in the bake house!!Needless to say we had a blast.I also got to shop some of the flea markets and antique stores down town. Beautiful old shops on brick streets. I found some red and white granitware they I have in my kitchen and some incredible prices so I spurged alittle!!People were so polite and loved to share what they knew. Sunday we went to a Traders Camp . We also enjoyed ourselves. I got to spin wool and do some bead work, and John Michael learned some about being a Smithy and how to throw an axe. (not sure I like that ). Everyone was in period clothing and I learned alot!!!The only thing I didn't like was the prices. Everything that was for sale was so outrageously priced it amazed me! They were selling alot of hides and furs. They were getting 40.00 for a yote hide!!!!!!!!!!!We had to get rid of quite a few this year and last and I can't believe we missed out!!! I think I would have tried it for 40$.Hope everyone had a great weekend!God Bless

Do you find, as I did when my kids were smaller that his vocabulary just jumps up after a trip like this? It truly amazes me how brain cells are stimulated with children and new experiences. It pays to expand their horizons ( and it often costs nothing!)
