Open-pollinated corn varietiesgreenspun.com : LUSENET : VictorySeeds.com : One Thread |
Help me please! I don't know where else to go. I would like to know who is producing agriculturally competitive open pollinated corn varieties. About 3 years ago I read an article about someone producing such a product but I cannot find them now.Thank you in advance!

Hello Roseanne,I guess I need clarification on what you are seeking. Can you please explain "agriculturally competitive".
Thanks,
Mike

It really depends on what you are wanting to do with the corn. All of the varieties that we off in the catalog and on our Web site are, of course, open-pollinated.Again, it depends on how you are planning on using the corn. If you are going to compare with the modern super sweet varieties with sugar enhanced genes that you find in the supermarket, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for good old-time corn on the cob flavor, 'Golden Bantam' and 'Stowell's Evergreen' are good.
If you are looking for dent varieties for meal or roasting ears, we have a few varieties available. Two of them were recently added to the Web site and are in very limited supply this year. Both are family heirlooms from Tennessee.
I hope that this helps,
Mike

Try Peaceful Valley Farm Supply. They seem to have a lot of everything. Very nice company.
