Broccoli-it is the best food there is for them and if you are going to raise rabbits it helps produce larger healthier litters and more milk. Terry

Parsley and comfry to start!

Parsley is great to clear wool block, they can eat all they want without getting sick, and like comfry full of lots of vitamins and minerals. Besides they love the stuff!

Dandelions are good for rabbits and guinea pigs. Probably have plenty of them growing wild around your place. My cockatiels even love them. Carrots and carrot tops are favourites.

We grow fodder kale. There isn't an animal on the place that doesn't love it. It grows 4 - 5 feet high, puts out leaves about a foot long and nearly as wide. If one plant is left to go to seed during the summer it puts out thousands of seeds. It keeps producing leaves all three seasons. It can be planted by just sprinkling seeds on the ground, them stepping on them. They need to be kept moist. I just transplant to a spacing of about 3 ft. between plants and make sure they are mulched and watered. The lowest temp. in this area was 10 degrees a couple of years ago, and I saved seed from the plants that survived that.

I grow all those, as well as feeding white clover, lawn grass (fescue), orchard grass, and this year my planting list includes chicories as well (Catalogna), brussel sprouts (they love the leaves),& cilantro, and basil, and a lot more parsley, which is very popular. I have had trouble with feeding kale in it causing calcium sludge in the rabbit's urine, so that is something to watch out for and limit feeding if it becomes a problem. My rabbit also likes red clover, but I limit her intake of that as well. Parsley, cilantro, basil and mint are all very beneficial herbally for rabbits, as is yarrow and coltsfoot, if you want to find space for those as well.
