During the 70's and 80's if you heard a T.V theme song you knew instantly the name of the show. i.e Brady bunch, Hawaii 5'O etc. What would your spiritual theme song be. Think about the melody and the lyrics. Would it be slow, fast etc. I think mine would be "Joyful, joyful we adore thee" I love the lyrics and tempo. Wouldn't it be great if the choir started singing your theme song the moment you walked into church;-)

I have many but based on my previous post, to just choose one, I think it would be "The King Of Love My Shepherd Is".

The words were penned by Henry W. Baker (1821-77). The original hymn tune was written by John B. Dykes. But there are several choral arrangements using verious composed tunes, each of which are lovely due to the beauty of the text.

The text--now in the public domain--weaves together Jesus' discourse on the "Good Shepherd" (John 10:1-30) and the familiar words of Psalm 23. However, it also draws upon many other Scriptural texts from Psalms to Revelation.

The words are as follows:

The King of love my shepherd is, Whose goodness faileth never. I nothing lack if I am His, And He is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow, My ransomed soul He leadeth; And, where the verdant pastures grow, With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish, oft I strayed, But yet in love He sought me; And on His shoulder gently laid, And home, rejoicing, brought me.

In death's dark vale I fear no ill, With Thee, dear Lord, beside me; Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy cross before to guide me.

The words are simply beautiful. I know you said there are choral arrangements, but can it be adapted to one of the meters in the hymn book. I'm on my way home. I suppose I should just pull out my old keyboard and try and see. Huh? I've printed the words to take home with me so I can fiddle around with my key board. Then I'll try and find a choral arrangement after my fiddling doesn't do the words any justice. (smile)
