VIRUS ALERT

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

I am sorry to be sending this, but I just received notice from a friend about this virus, and I am concerned that you may have it. The virus was in my PC and I have been in regular contact with each of you.

Please follow the steps recommends, just in case the malevolent creature is lurking in your harddrive. This should eliminate the problem completely before it can cause any damage to your PC.

1. Go to START... then to FIND or SEARCH

2. In the search for files or folders type SULFNBK.EXE ...this is the virus

3. In the "Look In" window ... make sure you are in DRIVE C:

4. Hit "SEARCH" button to find

5. If this file shows up (it has an ugly black icon) DO NOT OPEN IT!

6. RIGHT click it once .. then click on file ... go down to DELETE and left click

7. It will ask you if you want to send it to the recycle bin ... click yes

8. Go to your desktop and double click on the recycle bin

9. Either empty your bin or left click ONCE on SUBFNBK.EXE and DELETE IT

AGAIN 10. If you find it, send this message to everyone on your address book/list

THANKYOU Brother Matthews! Both for the alert and the deletion instructions. I had it and got rid of it.

THIS IS A HOAX. CHECK YOUR HARD DRIVE WITH ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE BEFORE YOU DELTE ANY FILES. THAT FILE IS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE.

CONTACT MICROSOFT, NORTON OR MCAFEE TO VERIFY THIS.

BLESSINGS

Sorry all, Satan is truly busy. Pastor Paris is correct. In my haste to do a good deed I was in gross error. If you were as hasty as I here is a link to correct this error. MicrosoInstructions

The link is correct and it still works but it should have read "Micosoft".

I am glad that it all worked out. Something good can come out of this. I hope everyone will make sure there anti-virus check is updated and if you do not have a anti-virus seriously think about getting one. It is so much cheaper than calling a computer consultant. Robert thank you for your honesty and keep posting. You rock!
