I am getting started in the rabbit business and I was wondering if any of you could share with me the affordable sources you get your supplies from. Anything online would be great, especially if I could order a catalog. I am looking for cages, wire, crocks, feeders, nest boxes, etc.I have been surfing and have found a few ok places, but nothing with GREAT prices. Any help?

Hi; We really like Bass eqpt. If your climate is not to cold I highly recommend the automatic nipples.Even if you can not use them in winter they are great the rest of the year. They are not expensive either. Rabbit Supplies regards

There's an excellent forum for people getting into the rabbit business. It's moderated (I think) by Tracy.Go up to the very top of this page and click on LUSENET. It will take you to another page in the Greenspun network, showing a whole bunch of forums.
Scroll down to Raising Rabbits for Profit. Introduce yourself, and I guarantee you'll get a warm welcome and all kinds of help. Tracy has made her business successful in a very short time.
Good Luck, God Bless

I am in a very similar situation, in fact I just posted today on the meat rabbit forum. I am also looking for answers to many of your questions. I've found several sources and Univ. extension articles on rabbits, this is a good overview article Mississippi State Univ., http://msucares.com/pubs/pub1384.htm#disease.Have you decided on a breed to raise yet?

Thank you so much! I will be checking out those sites...I'm going to breed Holland Lops, not for meat. I'm just too tender hearted.

Pam, We have found out local co-op is a good place for supplies! I've also found that it pays to get GOOD cages instead of flea market ones because they last longer and are easier to care for.I raise English Angoras and also have some plain old "pet" rabbits, who were mainly rescues. We currently have 26 bunnies! None of these will ever get eaten either!!!! suzy

It seems like everyone has had a rabbit or two, sometime in their life. I have bought or have been given lots of wire rabbit cages by people who just don't have a need for them anymore. I would post a notice at your local feed stores. "WANTED: Used Rabbit Cages" And also, run an ad in the Thrifty Nickel or whatever the local free paper is. Hope this helps.

Woody's Wabbits has some great affordable cages: www.woodyswabbits.com , Bass equipment, www.bassequiment. There are a few more but can't think of them at the moment. I do have some rabbit cages for sale and they are listed on the sale page on my web site. I'm cutting down on rabbits to 4 does and a couple bucks. Good luck!
