Around here lately- Sunday afternoongreenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread |
I have had a busy week. All week I was either doing taxes or laundry! That seems like all I ever get to do lately.Kadia sucumbed as the first sick person this year. I had to take her to the doctor for her throiat, her tonsils were very swollen. Then Brady got sick, then Cale, then me, then Megan, but Lindsey hasn't yet! None of the rest of us has needed the doctor. Mostly just a runny nose and a little earache. Not really bad enough to really say you are sick, but just enough not to feel 100% healthy.
As I said I had lots of tax customers this week, all hard ones too! I taught pre-school, went on a major shopping trip, did a good bit of house cleaning. We had several over night guests Friday, and Megan stayed at a friends house. Cale's friend Bob, brought us a gallon of maple syrup. (Thanks BOB!) We just love maple syrup that is for sure. The kids stayed at my Mom's this weekend for a night. They like to stay, as she spoils them with pizza and ice cream and all of that stuff. Even Brady says, "Grandma spoils us too much doesn't she Mommy?" !!!! I guess that is what grandma's are for.
Cale and I went for a long walk this morning. It was nice earlier, but now it is cloudy and rainy. I planted some lettuce and onion sets. A friend gave me a bucket full of garlic. I planted some if it, I know it should be planted in the Fall, but it will still produce, and since it was free I did not want to waste it. The ones that were still hard and not starting to grow, I set aside and I am gong to chop it up and dry it in my dehydrator. I also moved some grape vines today and Cale and I marked out where a new fence is going. We had just enough posts to do it without buying any.
This will be a busy week also. I have several sets of taxes to do, the kids get out of school on Wednesday. We are going to spring clean their rooms on thursday and Friday. They want to buy some new things for their rooms, like curtains and rugs. They have not had anything new for quite a while, so we will see what they decide. We are going to my Dad's for Easter Day Dinner. I am taking scalloped potatoes and some kind of dessert. Well let us know what you are up to lately.
It really was great to dig in the dirt today!!!

Melissa, I can"t believe the amount of work you do. When do you get to stop and smell the roses? I worked in the yard today also. Tom built a cute bridge over a fake river, which I am slowly filling with river rock. And want to plant several things around it, to make you feel like its for real. My front yard is a shade garden, and is just so pretty, the dog woods are all in bloom, and the ferns are comeing up, I have bird feeders, and hanging baskets from trees, with all kinds of flowers and vines, It takes lots of work to keep everything healthy in this heat.My house kinda goes to pot this time of year, as the spring season is so short and I want to enjoy it.

Hi Irene! No roses blooming here yet! But seriously I am one of those people who works as fast as I can, so I have plenty of time to enjoy life. I went on several long walks this week, read about 5 books, spent too much time on the interent(!) and do lots of other enjoyable things. The truth is I really like to clean house and keep busy, to me everything I do is really fun...

Friday evcning we went to see my Mom and step-dad. Their computer was down so my husband wanted to get it going for them. Turned out to need a new modem which he installed. They are glad to be back online and able to get mail from us kids and grandkids too. Spent the night and next day. Sunday we went to church and then over to our daughter- in-laws mom for an early Easter get together. She served a turkey dinner with dressing , mashed potatoes etc. Very good. Spent the rest of the day visiting there and playing with our grandson! Always fun. Very cold here yet so only in the garden planning stage and yard cleaning yet. You all have a good week.
