Just got a mold from Kraft/JEllo for making "Jello" beans - little jelly bean shaped pieces of Jello. I tried using Knox gelatine and fruit juice, which usually works well with fruit salad molds. The "beans" taste terrible! Very metallic tasting (the mold is plastic). I use one packet of gelatine to 1 1/4 cups of juice. Any suggestions?

Did you use canned juice? This would definetly cause the metalic taste. Knox gelatin brings out the flavor of the juice, be it good or bad.

No, I used the store brand bottled fruit juice. Next time I have the brand name stuff open, I try that.

I've often used applesauce as part of the liquid when making jello. It's particularly good with strawberry jello. Maybe that would help the flavor.

dont know , a friend brought some to a gathering this past weekend, they were ok, except for the needed oil to remove them from the mold made them kind of yucky to look at, i dont eat jello , so didnt try them ... silly question, did you make sure you washed the mold really well before you used it ?
