Around here lately-Monday morning

We had a nice weekend here. The weather was not too great, rainy and cool. Today it is supposed to be in the 50's and more rain off and on. Cale finished up putting boards on the hall-way wall. It looks really nice with light gray old barn siding. I need to replace some tile today. When he moved the wall we had to tear some of the old ones out. I am also going to use Linseed oil on the log wall in the hallway. I tried putting it on the tile and it really shines them up and dries hard and is not slippery, so I may do all of the floors with it also. It is actually called Antique Oil Finish. In the spring I love to make sure every room is gone over and all of the little odds and ends fixed and cleaned.

Had some friends over for dinner Saturday. I made steak, baked potatoes, wheat bread, cherry soup (recipe listed elsewhere) a relish tray with cheese and pickles, sliced cucumbers in vinegar, and home canned green beans. It was a nice evening. They have 3 kids and our kids enjoyed playing and visitng too. Last night we had a 4-H meeting and made Easter Cards for the nursing home. We have about 22 kids in our club, and 7 kids in the Clover Buds Club so it can get pretty hectic!!! The girls all got their project books, so they can get started on them soon.

Today I have 4 sets of taxes to do...Yuck!! Remind me why I do this again??? By this time of year I wish I had never heard of taxes!

Well I had better get busy, I have a lot of cleaning to do and must do the taxes and make some money.

Supper will be leftover stew, leftover cherry soup, and oatmeal dinner rolls.

Melissa, less than a month and the tax thing will be over! We are anxiously awaiting our return check! Hang in there.

We had friends over last night for corned beef & cabbage, so this morning is CLEAN UP! Baby is napping right now, so I'm on-line reading postings & doing some research. It is a cold grey day here.

It's 85 degrees by the weather station out my kitchen window! I'm not ready for this heat yet!!

This past weekend we put in raised garden beds, planted fruit trees, and laid the foundation for a desperately needed tool storage shed. Got our first sunburns of the year, and a huge dose of satisfaction when we surveyed our accomplishments last night.

God is so goooooddd to us!

Wishing you a blessed day.

Well Everyone were having Snow......about an inch now. Everything is white including the trees. It's pretty and it get's me in a baking mood. A friend had given me apricots(this summer), so I mixed them with peaches and made a cobbler. Never did that before,so hope it's good. It's spring break here. So I'm sure some people are really upset about the weather. I had gotten beauty bark for the flower beds, that project will go on hold now. We went for a ride yesterday and saw lots of new calves. Can't believe how many fields are subdevided and new homes are started. The land to the north of us is what we called cattle country because it wasn't good crop soil like other parts of our valley. Even our auction sale barn has gone to one auction a month. Really hate to see us lose our cattle industry. Cattle are my favorite. This is what happens when the land is worth more than what you can earn from it. My husband is almost through with the brooder he's making for our new arrivals (8)chicks. God has Bless so much and I thank Him so much that I can live in the country.
