I'm thinking of a Omega B-8 for my medium format needs. I want to print with a non cold light diffused light source. I wish to avoid the 60s color head sold for this model.

What are the options? If using a color head do I need the proper lens cones for small format, 6x6 and 6x9 negatives

I have been using a wonderful Simmon Omega B8 for years now with a square Aristo cold-lite head kluged into an oval Omegalite housing. The Omegalite (primitive coldlight) housing is big enough so that various sized heads could be made to fit inside. If asked, I will provide rough dimensions. The Omegalite itself is not something I would recommend (too weak, cannot use with variable contrast paper).

Or perhaps you could fit the guts of a newer color head into the original color head sold with the B8 (I did not realize there was any color head for the B8).

The applicable lens cones and recommended focal length enlarging lens are required as recommended for each format. I don't think the light source has any effect on focal length.
