What's for St. Patrick's Day Dinner?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

Having anything special for dinner today? We usually have corned beef and cabbage but corned beef is almost $3 a pound here. We were are having that wonderful, typical, favorite irish dinner -- fried chicken..LOL! Maybe I really should make that irish stew recipe I posted today? Well, okay...we'll at least have potatoes!

Same here, Karen, plus I couldn't get out this week to do shopping. We're having navy bean soup to use up the pork roast I made yesterday. But I thought about maybe making some Irish Soda Bread to go with. Maybe green pancakes for breakfast?

We got invited to friend's house for dinner. Corned beef, cabbage, soda bread, and irish music, also I am told green themed dessert.

This will be a good test for how my kids will react when I cook the corned beef I got from the store.

Stew here and cornmeal biscuits. To drink we are having lime juice, and sugar cookies with green icing for dessert.

Tonight is our turn for the snack for 4-H, and we are having the sugar cookies, sour cream and onion chips and green kool-aid!

I steamed a brisket with cabbage, potatoes, carrots and onions. Soda bread on the side. An imported bottle of Irish whiskey. Chieftains and Clancy Brothers on the CD. And later we're going to relax and watch "Darby O'Gill" and "Far and Away".

A good old homemade corned beef with cabbage here. Jay that Irish whiskey sounds interesting, I might have to try it instead of green beer! LOL Best wishes.

We had: traditional corned beef with a twist. I layered in a ring around my roasting pan: one slice of green cabbage, 3 potatoe slices, one slice red cabbage, and 2 onion slices. Placed the brisket in the center and baked for 4 hours at 250 degrees. Served on warm plates with some of the pan drippings drizzled over the plate for effect, and served green pineapple punch for the kids. Was fabulous......
