Searching for item to use in Incubatorgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
This is not a joke, and it may sound strange, but I’m looking for a child’s toy called The Water Weasel to help incubate some chicken eggs. It’s made of a special plastic shaped like an elongated cheerio and filled with water (sometimes with glitter or little creatures in them). All you do is slip the probe of your digital thermometer into The Water Weasel and place it in your incubator just as if it was an egg. Once The Water Weasel comes to the incubator’s temperature, you’ll have the temperature of the inside of your eggs. I’ve looked and looked and haven’t come across any yet. Has anyone heard of them before? Our local Toys R Us didn’t have any. Thought they had every toy!

Betty, you might look on ebay as they have all kinds of toys.

If this method works with that water toy, would it not work with other type water toys? Maybe a float type thing with water inside instead of air? Including a snap cover to put the therometer within.

I saw that not too long ago at The Easy Chicken: http://shilala.homestead.com/therm.html I've forgotten how to do links but if you'll cut and paste, that will take you to their page where they describe using it and also sell the Water Weasels.
