Yes, you can use bleach with the laundry soap. I haven't had any problems. As for the lye, the Red Devil is the only kind I've been able to find. Hope this helps!

I also use bleach all the time, but I find I don't need as much! Also, another hint....fabric softener is expensive. I use white vinegar in the rinse water for towels - about 1/4 Cup. It keeps them soft and still absorbent. Honest and truly, there is NO vinegar smell at all!

Karen, do you just glug in some vinegar into the fabric softener spot on the washing machine? (it sounds too simple!)

I add about a cup of vinegar as a rinse. In winter,I have such a problem with static cling that I buy those fabric softener sheets for the dryer and rip them in half.

I don't know why you couldn't put the vinegar in the softer dispenser. It would also help clean out the mineral deposits in the dispenser!

I put the vinegar in the softener dispenser and it works fine. I've found that I can use 1/4 to 1/2 cup vinegar and get good results. I use white (distilled) vinegar. Is this what you all use, too?

If you dont have a dispenser on your machine use a Downy Ball. I use white vinegar in one of those thingys and it works great. Blessings Peggy
