Head light problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

Has anyone experienced any head light problems? Only had my 1+1 a few days, and tonight out riding after the sun when down, will cornering on an unlit road the head lights suddenly. Don't know how i'm still here. luckily i managed to stop without hitting anything, cos was doing 95ish, not major fast but is with no lights in the dark!! Anyway, was on full beam and the light just cut out. didn't even go to normal beam. Once stopped, couldn't switch on either the dipped or full beam, and had to travel back in the dark with just side lights which are about as useful as an ashtray would be on an MV.

Getting back home, it appears that there are two separate bulbs in place for dipped and main beam. Surely both haven't gone at the same time on a very new bike? First time i've ridden the thing at night.

Anyone else experienced this?

I'm worried if it is the bulbs if they're replaced it may happen again. I'm all for fun riding, on the safe side of dangerous but this is nuts!! Any similar symptoms on your bikes i'd like to hear about please.

Sorry to waffle so much!!

Love the bike though

Cheers paul

bajadesigns.com Here is an H.I.D. kit for motorcycles. I've seen BMW roadbikes converted with these. Illegal for road use.

I have over 8000mi no headlight problems. I think I'm using PIAA's H4 Hyper White Bulbs 55 Watts. I used the stock bulb before. Have your eletrical system checked.

First of all I feel you should take the bike to the dealer and have them test the wiring harness. It seems to me that there is something wrong going on for sure. Let them know you almost had an accident, and with liability issues it should put fear in their hearts to try to get it resolved right away.

What you need is an HID upgrade for your bike. That is the only way to ride comfortably at night and being able to see well.

Fabio,

Have you put on Real HID kits or just the fake ones with the wannabe HID bulbs? When I say kit, it means with the ballast and igniter. If so, could you please let me know what kind? Regards,

My high beam went out after only a few hundred miles, replaced it my self for only $8 bucks. I guess the bulbs are not the best quality and they go out quickly....make sure you adjust the high beam all the way or it won't come out of the housing I fought with this for a while, especially since my dealer had no idea how to adjust the headlight!!! I had to show them after playing arround with the entire headlight assembly to the point of removing it!!!!
