ANybody got the paint code for MV Red?greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread |
My F4 has a scratch. I picked myself up off the floor after I noticed it and decided it wasn't that bad - a can of touch up would fix it. Local dealer says the factory doesn't issue touch-up paint cans - I should visit a local hobby shop and get the best match using my own judgement.mmmm. Not such a great answer methinks. I've read and re-read the owner manual - can't find a paint code for MV red anywhere..
Does anybody know the correct paint code?
Thanks
David.

Look under the seat im sure mine has a code for the paint there, but if its anything like a Ducati-i once wanted a panel painted by a motorcycle repair paintshop, they told me they would have to paint all the panels because no 2 bikes are the same!

Hallo david first of how deep is the scratch. Before doing anything try working the area with T cut or its equivalent. You will be working onto 2pac acrylic which is quite tough. Always keep a close watch on your cloth the minute it turns to colour you know you have worked through the clear laquer and are onto paint so stop. deep scratch's can be worked first with 1000 or 1200 wet and dry paper with soapy water before finishing with a soft cloth and T Cut but you must be vigilant and patient. If the area is beyond this treatment you need the old school type paint shop that still know about mixing colour. Sadly the commercial world of 2 pac acrylic paint systems as nearly made these place extinct. So much for progress and best of luck Tony b

Thanks Tony & Mike. I had already looked under the seat too - in usual Italian fashion - there is a PAint Colour selector box under there - but it apparently tells me I chose Red?silver - just in case I was unsure. No paint codes though. The scratch ain't that bad - first cut is the deepest & all that. I left the cover off it in storage and I'd say somebody has just bumped it with something while walking past - clipped the edge of the Left mirror. Bugger! I think some judicious rubbing and polishing may clear the worst of it - thanks for your help!
