Hi Nalton:I plan on attending the Bishop's Council Meeting in Tampa. Since I am a member of the 11th District and resident of FL, failure to show would make me look like a taciturn host. I just don't know at the moment when I will be in Tampa. I look forward to meeting and greeting all of our out-of-state and in-state (like Joyce W.) members. QED

Hello to all,At our mid-year convocation, we will also be meeting to finalize plans for the week council/general board meeting. After that meeting, I'll have a better picture of time frames, etc. I'm praying that there will be some "free" time where we can all come together to fellowship.
Brother Brangman, would you please explain "Senator", before Rev. Dr. Santucci's name? Is it a title similar to that of 'senator' in the congress of the U.S.?
We really just want to embrace all of you with some good old fashioned Gulf Coast of Florida hospitality.
Pastor Paris will you be coming?

Rev. Joyce,Yes, Dr. Santucci is indeed a member of the Bermuda Senate. For more information, check his Web Site.

Rev. Joyce The answer to your question is based on a different system of government than the United States. Our Government is based on the Westminister Parliamentary System. We use two houses of Government. One elected and one selected by the major politcally parties based on seats and control of the elected house. Our voted representatives (Members of the Lower House) are called Members of Parliament. Our Selected members (Members of the Upper House [or in Bermuda's case known as the Senate])are referred to as Senators. It is a significant step to be asked to be a representative in the Senate. The Senate is the Parliamentary check-off against the Lower House. It can veto legislation. In England the Upper house is known as the house of Lords (part of the Aristocratic History of England and the class system). Hope this is of assistance.
