I see that you needed info on E. A. Poe. I can't really help you out, but I was hoping you could help me........ I'm in the same situation as you are/were. I don't know much about computers and I cannot seem to pull up or find any info I need about this. The dangerous land of remote psychology! First separate the unique and often repeated themes in Poe's work(tales, essays and poems). It has been suggested the death by tuberculosis of his mother and other significant females has significance for tales such as Usher(the sister coughs up blood) the lugubrious color red in MANY works, red wine, red light, dead or dying or not quite dead young females. Poe considered the best themeatic treatment to be of a young female dying prematurely.

Loneliness in childhood, his siblings split up, his brother at sea, his schooling among strangers in England, his loss of parents and guardians, his unsuccess at love, his disasters with even modest encounters with vice(gambling, alcohol). Then you can see "William Wilson"(loneliness at school exagerrated to madness), "The Assignation", his lonely, melancholy, self-sufficient but terrified heros, his extremism at pushing the boudaries he never quite escapes from, the meories of the dead that never quite go away, the lack of comofrt in past memories and future Hope. Renee, I am also writing a paper on Poe. Had you knoticed in all of Poe's works with women included, the women are like goddesses or motherly like? I'm writing a research paper on Poe and I think that all throughout his life he was missing a motherly figure... and all throughout his life he looked for one. He has a complete work of poems about different women in his life and so such. I also think his writnings are due to his time to think and talk in his head... I mean, if a person is left to their true self.. nevermind... Poe waas a genius!
