I am so excited and I had to share with people who can appreciate my excitement. I just purchased nineteen bantam chicken eggs and one quail egg. I have never incubated eggs before and have been reading the posts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. - Sheryl

Sheryl, that is exciting! What fun! You are going to have so much fun ,the little darlings are so cute. You might take a gander at www.poultryconnection.com and scroll through the posts there and see what is happening with everyone and their incubators. I am curious about the "one" quail egg. First, don't expect 100 percent success in hatching eggs in any incubator, due to many reasons beyond your control and some links: Virginia Cooperative Extension, http://www.ext.vt.edu/pubs/poultry/factsheets/8.html has good general information. Mississippi State University, http://www.msstate.edu/dept/poultry/hatch.htm has drawings to show how the air cell looks (candling) at different stage of development. Ohio State Univ. I went to a poulty farm that sells fresh killed chickens for the uppity types in a local suburban area. They even cook them for them. Well anyway, they rent incubators and sell eggs to schools and other organizations to show city kids how chicks, etc. hatch. I was able to purchase the bantam eggs of the day and when we went to the quail house, they had already gathered the eggs and there was only one there. I asked if I could have that one since they already had the others in their incubator. So that's the reason for the one quail egg. As to type, I'm not sure.
