Go snoopy go snoopy!!!!! Congradulations, it sounds like heaven! Oh how I wish for a creek!! Most people asume Florida is mostly swamp but where we live my Dad picked this piece of land out when they had had rain for 1 week solid and he kick up the top 4 inches and under that it was dry as old bones. Now go back to the snoopy dance....

Good for you, Teri!! I bet you can't wait for spring! A running creek is the best. Ours runs about 50 ft. behind our house and in the past (before we had running water!) I used it to wash dishes. It was kinda fun! Keep us posted on the clearing and building as it progresses!!

We saw the land on an mls listing on the internet an Saturday,Drove there( 3km away),on Sunday,no signs were on it yet so we did not know for sure which property it was.Finally got a hold of the realtor Monday,saw it tuesday and closed it tonight.I know this sounds crazy,but knowing the market here, knowing we did not want to lose this property,and knowing we were in competition with another offer,we went in with the asking price and conditional only on building permits,which we eventually waived.(they are available)The stewardship article was timely I think!!!Thanx

Rondeau Bay Watershed Rehabilitation Project

Canada's Carolinian Life Zone...

Canada’s Carolinian Life Zone is a unique area found only in southwestern Ontario. It supports natural areas (those not planted by man), including woodlands, wetlands and prairies, which are more typical of areas south of the Great Lakes. In size, it makes up less than 1% of Canada’s total land area. Yet it supports one quarter of the country’s population. This zone extends as far north as Toronto in the east and Grand Bend in the west. At the same time, it forms the northern limit of the larger Deciduous Forest Region which extends down into North Carolina.

Due to its southerly location, southwestern Ontario has the warmest average yearly temperatures, longest frost-free season and mildest winters in the province. This mix of good weather combined with the fertile soils of the area have made the southwest the most intensively farmed area in the province.

Got it from a Google search, by putting in "Carolinian woodland". There were lots of items, but I didn't read them.

You're welcome, Teri -- but I'm not so sure I was being thoughtful. I have a LARGE curiosity bump. I'd never heard of it either, so I looked it up. Maybe I was Sherlock Holmes in a previous life!? {hee hee}
