Is there a database of AME ministers currently in seminary? I think it would be a great idea to develop an alliance of brothers and sisters in the seminary. Since the church has moved to require seminary training as a requirement for ordination it might be a nice idea to gather the seminarians to worship and to hear from scholars operating from the african american context. This is particularly for those of us like myself who attend non-AME or African American seminaries.

Frederick you have a great idea. Seminary is so hard. And three years is often grueling, I am proud of you for making the commitment. When I went to seminary I was United Methodist and I went to a seminary that is Presbyterian. One of the things that I did was to find friends who were in my denomination. That really helped because we usually had to turn in reports to our District superintendents, (Presiding elder in our denomination.) Since we do not have a database, I would suggest you form a support group with other A.M.E students on campus, you might want to go through the Black students alliance. If they do not have the above things in place start them. I am happy that you are reaching out for support. Something else you may do is to contact the placement director on your campus and they can give you a list of students who are A.M.E Frederick I look back on my seminary years and I have to say it was the hardest thing I have ever done. A lot of people do not realize that seminary is 3 years of graduate work. Often times they think we are just sitting and praying. Keep posting on the board and you will have people who will cheer you on to the finish line!

Hello! I am the only black at my seminary as well as the only AME at a Mennonite University. I would love to support any initiative to create a database/connection with other AME students. Let's get something STARTED!
