We finally got our first egg (poultry general)greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
One of our Easter Egg chickens laid their first egg yesterday. My five year old son was thrilled and ate it up for his dinner. Then today he made an egg person from the shell for his arts and crafts project. The egg was a beautiful olive green color.

Wonderful, the simple joys of homesteading!!! (I was too Stacy, excited and embarrassed. I was working as a nurse at the hospital at the time and everyone looked at me like I was VERY strange........but then us homesteaders do appear that way at times ;>) )

Congratulations!!! My Chickens started laying the day we finally signed on this place(We were already living here). I carried them around all day showing them to everyone, The lawyers, the banker, at the insurance office. You name it everybody saw them itty bitty eggs. I wasn't even embarrased I was thrilled. It did feel funny though, at first, eating eggs fresh from the chickens butt!!!!!!!!! Susan
