How to put a picture on EBaygreenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
I know alot of you sell items on ebay and will probably be able to answer my question. We are considering selling some items on ebay and would like to have a picture of them item on the auction. The problem is that my husband and myself apparantly are totally stupid! Normally, we can figure things out for ourselves (or one of the kids can tell us how to do something). We do not have a vast computer knowledge, but have never been this stumped before (over what I KNOW is a simple procedure). HOW DO YOU PUT A PICTURE ON EBAY?!!!! We have sold several times before, but never with a picture. I have read the instructions on ebay, and would even use thier service, but can't figure out how to do this. On the page where you list what you are selling, there is a place for you to put a picture, but it wants a html. My picture is saved in Microsoft Picture This. What do I put here? Once (and I don't know how I got this) instead of a place to put a html, there was about 5 space to put where the picture was located. I can't figure out how I got that to come up. I realize I am not making much sense. Basically what I would like to know is (and in english) how do I put a picture with my auction? You can email me if it is too long for the forum. Thank you VERY much for your help!!!! Lisa B.

I do it this way. My images are on diskettes, having been either put there by a digital camera or getting a roll of film back on a diskette. I go in and change the file name to something I can relate to, rather than a strong of characters and numbers. In the listing form there is a place to upload pictures. You will see a series of stacked blocks with Browse next to them. I click on browse and then tell eBay to go get the image off of my diskette. It will pick it up as something like A:colonial.jpg. Add additional images if desired. Then complete the rest of the form and submit. I can see the A: drive come on when it gets the image.
I don't know how you would tell it to go to your picture file.
This avoids the HTML route and works for me.

Ken, I am not seeing the stacked boxes. This is the only place I see that I can tell it to put a picture:Picture URL Link to your own Pictures (advanced users) optional Try eBay Picture Services Enter the URL (Web site address) for your picture here. If you need help adding photos, learn the basics in the photo tutorial . How do I get to the stacked boxes? I am hitting "Sell" on the home page, inputting my password, then choosing my category. The next page is where you type your description, price, where you are located, how long to run the auction ect.... This is where the HTML thing is. Where are the stacked boxes? Thanks! Lisa B.

Lisa, maybe this will help. I notice you are an AOL user. What we've had to do in the past is start AOL as usual, then minimize AOL (don't disconnect, just push the dash at the top right-hand corner of the screen to minimize AOL) and open Internet Explorer or Netscape. If either of those browsers have the Java disabled, you won't get the right screen either, but you will get a prompt asking to allow the Java to run ... allow it to do so and you will get the picture setup where you can add the pictures you have saved on your hard drive to eBay. The first picture is free - any additional pictures will cost extra. My DW said when we were on AOL this method is the only way she could get pics on eBay. Hope this helps!

eBay Tip: If you list something on a regular basis (at least once within 30-days), you do not need to start from scratch. Go to the last one you sold in the search by Seller. Open it. Find the notice for Relist Auction. Click on it. It will provide a fill-in form (including images) which you can modify as required and relist.
