There is a fancy name and price for the item used to help move fabric into place. It looks like a long hat pin with handle. I forgot the name!!

I bought a nice fancy all metal one at a sewing seminar for $15 only to learn later that a "biology pick" obtained from the university bookstore would serve the same purpose for $.17 at the time. The biology pick is light weight, easier to handle.

Keep several handy in different areas. Great to help tuck fabric or other into the just right place or keep your fingers away from sewing machine needle. The picks really help when keeping gathers spaced while going under presser foot of sewing machine. They are handy for several things in crafts and sewing.
