I need a good mpeg cutter to separate a movie in 2 or more parts. And want to be a freeware one. Your help is welcome.

TMPGenc (www.tmpgenc.net) is free and can do this. Commercial editors are easier to use and have more options, but they aren't free. One bit of warning - if you have audio sync problems after cutting, try to demux and remux, which you can also do with TMPGenc. You most likely will not have problems, but I just mentioned that in case you did have problems.

Tmpgenc is indeed easy to use and free, but i have discovered a problem with it. If capping something from tv which run for an hour with at least 5 add breaks, I cap them in avi, then using the source range in Tmpgenc, i convert the sections inbetween the adds. After that i join the 5 sections together into a 40 minute 0dd mpeg.

Unforunately, within 30 minutes of the show, the audio is out of sync with the video,and no ammount of remuxxing will fix it. Other programs like mpeg join will join them correctly keeping the audo sync. If i only join 3 parts, the sync is fine. So just watch out for that and make sure you test your finished file before you delete the source files

to batfink..maybe you should edit with virtual dub or an editing program such as premier and then go into tmpgenc to encode.

Batfink, in TMPGENc, under the environmental settings, promote the DirectShow filters way up (to a priority of 5 for instance). If this still fails, use Vdub and extract the audio from the avi file, and use the separate audio file as an input.
