Wood Cook Stove from Buck Stovesgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
HI guys,I have the opportunity to buy a wood cook stove from an individual who originally purchased it from Buck Stoves. This is a no frills stove which I would use in my canning kitchen. I have cooked on wood for many years but have never heard of such a stove. The gentleman sent me several pictures but as he has never used the stove can't tell me how good of a stove it is. I assume it is not airtight, it is of cast iron construction, has a warming oven. I have looked at Buck Stove web pages and can't see any cook stoves at all. The stove does not have a manufacturer name on it that the owner knows of. I suspect perhaps it is a stove that they were carrying right before Y2K, because of the demand for such things then.
Thank you for any help you can give me. Kim

having dealt with buck stoves back in the 80's, i never saw a cast iron version at all. all the flavors we sold were the plate steel, jacketed versions with a blower. however, a LOT of people would refer to any wood burning stove as a "buck" stove, regardless of manufacturer. so i would doubt that the cook stove you are contemplating is actually manufactured by buck. it could be but i doubt it....
