Well, not exactly the old 60s hallucinogenic drug but the latest telecommunication technology commonly refered to as broadband. Broadband is embodied in telco products like xDSL or Cable modems provided thru your cable company. Put another way, it's like having a T1 line in your home. If you are using conventional home dial-up modems (like me)your top speed is 56k bps. DSL or a cable modem is rougly 30 times FASTER. As long as you live with 18,000 ft of your phone company's central office you are able to receive DSL. I wonder how many of our churches are connecting to the 'Net via broadband? The primary benefits of greater bandwidth technologies enables users to always be "online" combined with rapid download speed for audio and video. To borrow a techno-geek phrase, more "killer apps" are on the way. The average monthly cost is running between $39.99 - $49.99 per month. So, are you ready to trade in your current narrow-band technology (i.e. dial-up modem) to connect to your ISP for the promise of broadband? QED

Bill...I have "jazzed up" my hook-up a month ago! Yes, there is a difference. I find it impossible to use the old dial up service. With road ruuner, I can view audio clips! I have even encouraged others to invest in this service by allowing them to use the church's internet access. Yes, I now have the need for speed!
