Ok, I'm going to buy a new vacuum, and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions.I have hardwood floors, so I don't need any "deep cleaning" features. I have to have a HEPA filter-the allergist recommended this for kids. I want a wand attachment to do corners, uphplstery etc. (Actually I want the kind of wand that I can just point and say Abra cadabra and the house is clean, but somehow I can't seem to find one....)
I've seen G.E., Eureka. and Dirt Devil, all with the same features in the same price range. I had a Dirt Devil before and did not like it, but my sister tells me theyve gotten better... Does anyone have any of these and what are your suggestons?

In my humble opinion, the Dirt Devil stinks!

I recently bought a Hoover upright and I love it. I have a Sears canister I've had for years and it is a very good vaccum but it is so heavy and bothers my back. I wanted something lighter. The Hoover I have adjusts to hardwood floors also as I too have hardwood with carpet in the bedrooms (unfortunately). The one I bought does not have the HEPA filter as I really don't need that but I believe they make one. One thing I like about Hoover is it is made in the USA. Dirt devil and most of the rest are not. I'm a stickler for buying USA made when I can!

Consumer Reports puts the Hoover Windtunnel at the top of the list and it is my personal favorite. The attached hose has the best suction of any of them. Yes, they are spendy, but worth it.

We recently bought a Hoover Wind Tunnel and I love it. It handles easy and for me thats is a big positive as I use a cane.

Have to agree with the ladies about the Wind Tunnel. It is the best vacuum for the price that we have ever had. We have had many types of vacuums, and even a Rainbow along the way, but this Hoover is our favorite. Try Wal-Mart for the best price. That is where we found our lowest price.Talk to you later.

I bought a new upright wind-tunnel Dirt Devil vacuum three years ago and it committed suicide last week. This is the second of their products I have bought which didn't last with regular use....As soon as I have the $$$, Hoover will get my business back again..never should have left them! LOL
