Was wondering what I am missing. What are your all time favorite cookbooks? I love all my basics and use them all the time for reference: Betty Crocker, Home and Garden, and Joy of Cooking.

But I love the new ones too like anything by Emeril, the local church cookbooks, etc.

So what is your favorites. Any that are a MUST HAVE??

Hey Lisa! My alltime fav-or-ite would be the Home Comfort wood cookstove cookbook from about 1948 or so. A thick black cover on front and back--it's loaded with good stuff. I had one but somehow lost it in our move 7 years ago. I borrowed one and copied it on my big sharp dohicky. It ain't perfect but it'll do. old hoot. Matt.24:44

hey lisa, my favorite cookbook is " How to cook everything " by mark bitterman...It is the best...im a chef so it has alot of recipes that most homesteaders wont use...like calamary... kumquat pudding ect... but I use it alot...also love betty crockers cookbook not the new one , the ones before 1977...use the ball blue book alot tooo,,, i think i spelled calamary wrong...LOL

Smokey Mountain Makin's, I get lots of recipes our of Rodale's Basic Cookbook, Newstart Homestyle Vegetarian Cookbook, It's About Thyme by Marge Clark, The Southwest Cookbook, which is one of the most beautiful books and probably 5-6 others I'll think of when I hit the submit button, Gary just this morning got two boxes of cookbooks out of the attic. Still don't have room to put them all, but when we're finished re-bilding we'll have 4 built-in bookcases as well as the free=standing ones.

I have collected church or ladies auxillary cookbooks over the years and use them alot. I find they have the best recipes for "real food" that my husband and kids will really eat. On special occasions I do like Williams-Sonoma's themed cookbooks, ie. chicken, pasta and holiday desserts.

I use the Moosewood cookbook more than all the others put together. IMHO it is very well suited for homesteaders, and those who desire to eat naturally. Definitely a must have!

My favorite cookbooks are the "Best of Bridge Cookbooks". There are 8 different series of wonderful recipes. They are simple recipes with gourmet results.
