I need to write a research paper and i was seeing if i would have enough infomation to write a 4-6 page paper on this topic... How the life of Edgar Allen Poe affected his writings. I needed to what stories were written about events that actully had happened in his life. For example he wrote Annabell Lee about his wife that died... is there anymore? Thanks a lot!

His first lost fiancee Ellen Royster is likely the hyper inspiration for the double suicide tryst tale, "The Assignation". "To Helen" is dedicated to Mrs. Stanard, a boyhood inspiration, and the longer "To Helen" is to "Helen" Whitman whom he courted after Virginia's death. "Eulalie" is a rare happy poem about being married to Virginia and scibbled on a copy after her death is the epigraph "Deep in earth". "Hop Frog" is a late and bitter allegory about himself and Virginia and his troubled career. More but not all his works have similar relationships to his life, especially his feelings.

"The Raven" is actually about an episode of writer's block that Poe experienced. The black raven, repeating the word Nevermore is thought to be Poe's feeling that his work has perished. He would nevermore write.

The poem "A Valentine" by edgar allan poe was written for his 2nd mother Frances keeling Valentine Allan. The 1st letter of the 1st line, and the 2nd letter of the 2nd, then the 3rd letter of the 3rd line.. and so on... spell out her name. He writes in the poem that no one will ever be able to figure out the ridde or " find her own sweet name, that nestling lies upon the page, enwrapped from every reader"

As a matter of fact, Poe had much influence behind his writing, and the people before you two jackasses were correct. The women in his life greatly inspired his writing, and even his own personal life is correlated into his writing. Almost every single piece of writing from his poems to his stories is about his life or about something or someone that was in his life. People need to respect this website
