I urgently need to set up a new business email address for up to 10 people, does that mean I need to register a domain (which will allow me to construct a website in time)?

Basically I want my email addy to read: budwiser@excellentproduct.com and my colleagues / employees email addies to read: budsmyboss@excellentproduct.com, budisgreat@excellentproduct.com., etc.

Help please, I know that I can register a domain for $30-40 / year but would that give me the email options?

I got the www.toonweb.co.uk domain over a year ago.

Anything before the @toonweb.co.uk will be sent to us. So if you get the domain you can have as many addresses as you like basically.

If there are only 10 people it might just be a case of getting Outlook or whatever to redistribute the right mail to the right people. There is definitely a proper way to do it but I don't know a lot about it to be honest.

I thought it depended on the server/service? Since email has to go through a mail server at some point, don't most companies offering domains also limit the number of email addy's? Though you can get more by paying more. However, I think there is a way to set up mail to be redirected as long as each person has their own email account (though free services such as hotmail, or through the company isp). In that case, anything going to someone@yourdomainname.com would get directed to whatever account is specified. It's been so long since I've dealt with email issues, I'm afraid I'm not much more help either.

Thanks Paul, that's sounds simple enough and I know that I can get the domain name I want. I'll leave it a few more hours to see if any of 'the people in the know' volunteer to do the donkey work for me ;-)

I got mine from freenetname.co.uk.

It was completely free but I think they don't offer them anymore.

uk2.net is pretty cheap I think.

Ask the webhost how many addy's are allowed before paying for anything. They should even have that info available on their website.

I've used a place called fivedollarhosting.com (or maybe it's 5dollarhosting.com??). Have had virtually no problems with downtime and they are pretty cheap. Not sure what they allow for email. They also responded quickly when I emailed questions. Again, it's been a few years since dealing with it. Sorry(again) for not being much help. Hopefully a few other webheads around here will come through. :-)

Bud, I used an Indian company as my web host and they offered up to 100 free email addresses. They weren't that expensive but I still managed to get cut off. When I get home later I will check the name of the company.

You should also have a look at everyone.net which sponsored the gallowgate.com's email. I've just had a look on their site and they offer business mail for $30 a month

UK2.net will register any domain for you, not just .co.uk. There are thoudands of companies who will do the registration for you.

Geordie - I'm v naive about these things, but I bought a domain name thru uk2, and I get regular techy emails from them about stuff I don't understand. As you've got a uk2.net addy it's now dawning on me that they're an isp aswell as a domain seller. But presumably the two things aren't interconnected? If I want to set up my website I wouldn't need an account with them, would I? Would my website actually be on their server? Soz, I don't have a clue about these things as you can tell.
