Long-tailed Phoenix Chicken

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Does anyone have information about Pheonix chickens? They are a an ornamental chicken. The roosters used to grow tail feathers that were twenty feet long. Now they only grow to about six feet. I am interested in raising for show, but I don't know much about them. How many eggs do they usually lay? Will they ever brood? Any serious problems they develop? How big are they? The closest I got was an article about Yokahomas who are related to the Pheonix. Please help me!

Response to Long-tailed Pheonix Chicken

Hi Marie, There is a breed called Onagadori that gets the extremely long tail. Phoenix get tails that are about 3-6ft long. Check out my website at http://bantychicken.com/website/longfeathers/. Feel free to email me anytime. Also Rojo is a great person for information also.
