Michael, in the IMG SRC tag you put the URL of the photo.net page where your pictures are, not the actual location of the photo on the server. Photo.net can get confusing because they're using some sort of database that doesn't add the .HTM extension to web pages or the .JPG extension to images, so you can't necessary tell what the file is by looking at the address. Confused?

I like the photos. The one thing that bothers me is the massive DOF on the second photo. It makes the sunbather look like he's a doll (or that the other guy is a giant). I would have reduced the DOF and focused on the man on the right.

I like the composition of both photos, Michael. The balance of compositional elements in the first shot works well, as do the leading lines in the second. Both also convey that "Swiss Alps" mood nicely. The color balance of the scans seems a bit on the blue side to me, however. The second shot might have been improved with a female skier sunbathing bare-chested, but then you'd risk being accused of setting up the shot. ;-)

Looking at the second photo some more, maybe it's not DOF that's bothering me. Kind of hard to tell because there seems to be some digital artifacting(?) on the photo from the scan. Maybe stopping down isn't the answer, but just moving yourself a bit to the left so that the sunbather isn't so close to the man on the right.

Michael,

I like the second shot as is. The lines make it very dynamic (good feeling of energy). Your first shot is good as well however, I would burn the sky on the upper right hand corner in just a little bit more to emphasize the gradient between the bright horizon and the blue sky to more effectively utilize that expanse of your image.

Just IMHO. Good work...

I am assuming shot #1 was intended with cameraman as main sub. If so, I think it is valid from a color balance and surely from a compositional pov. I woould have preferred to have had the main interest reversed. Shot #2, I love. It is well composed, with nice color balance and intriguing.

BTW, your Hassy book is my bible when it come to my Hassy (501CM). Some of the shots in there are simply beautiful.
