Woman At the Edge of Two Worlds…………..Wow! What a descriptive title. I picked this book up at the public library book sale by the title alone. The title just pulled me to over to the book. The inside flap substantiated my intuition, and the book itself, well it simple and completely blew me away. This woman wrote my life. At least the last year of it. I could not believe that someone else understood and had experienced my fractured world, let alone had found a way to put it to words.
I have felt like I have been dangling between two separate worlds, grasping at some wispy threads to keep me from plunging downward. Needless to say this book is a must reread for me. Perhaps it won’t speak to you. Perhaps it will. Perhaps it will help you as it has helped me start to find the way thru the tremendous fog bank that had rolled into my life.
It’s about changing hormones, changing perspectives, and opportunities for a glorious rebirth, for a shamanic point of view, to give you a hint. I did not know how important this time is for me. I had not prepared myself.
Here are some quotes: “My emotions have become an entity unto themselves, taking me over, almost adversarial.” “ Emotional, feeling everything intensely, sensing others anger, their joy. Acutely aware of the rhythms of nature around me.” How true.
“Something is going on that is far more important than the physical rebalancing of hormones and the transformation taking place in your body”. “Dance with the heat. Ride it like a fractious horse.”
“A time of release………. she begins to reap the benefits of all she has learned and done……….her spiritual life at last truly begins, a process of rebirth from which a woman emerges with new responsibilities, new mirrors, new power.”
This has been forgotten, b/c the patriarch has become so strong in our existence
“Shamanism is a way of understand energy. Only a word that describes a way to walk in balance with one foot in the world of physical existence and a foot in a healthy spiritual life.” Woman at the edge of two worlds. Oh yes!
“Why is it so hard to explore the power and ability of inner space, when we explore the boundaries of outer space?”
“Using modern technology w/o a sense of the sacredness is like giving a child a sharp sword. Without the balance that child will hurt himself or others.”
Lastly but most importantly “I have dedicated my life to a path of heart, instead of a path of anger.” Amen, sister! So have I.
What do you think?
