Nero Menu options in SVCDgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread |
Is anybody using Nero's menu option to burn SVCD's or VCD's? I've had success using the thumbnail option. By double clicking on the file once you've dragged it over you can slide the clip along to change the thumbnail image that corresponds with the movie. I do this with usually six at a time, also editing the title that Nero will use for each movie. I check the menu and it shows up on computer screen. When I burn the SVCD's, less than half of them come out right and I'm making a lot of coasters, although the movies all play beautifully in my Pioneer DVD - they just don't start with the menu - usually after the 6th (last clip) when you push the next key on the DVD remote then the menu shows up. Basically, the digital selection keys will start the appropriate clip but what good is it without a menu for reference?
The movies are so good that I've tolerated wasting a disc or 2 just to get one good one. But c'mon now - on principle, I'd like to get it right EVERY time. Any suggestions?
Thanking in advance,
Ron

I've never made a menu at all. Seems like a lot of trouble to me and I'm more interested in entry points than menus, so I can't use Nero for entry points. However, I just wanted to point out that if you don't get a satisfactory answer here, you might try posting this to the SVCD forum at network54.com/Hide/Forum/70438. I know there are guys over there who use Nero for menus and they might be able to help. Also, if you post to the SVCD forum, list the model number of your Pioneer DVD player as I seem to have a vague recollection that there might be some issues with certain Pioneer models and Nero menus. One final thing - make sure you have the latest and greatest Nero as they constantly make bug fixes and may have fixed something that's causing you problems if you don't have the latest version.

I make VCD menus on Nero 5, works every time for my Philips DVD player. I note that the Philips DVD player has an option to display the menu or not which is off by default and has to be set before reading the VCD.
