husband is at 60 Deg. South, Cow has lost her pluggreenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread |
Hi Guys,Thanks to all of you who have sent me encouraging message over the past few days. I have had a hectic day and sometime when I am not quite so sensitive I'll tell you how I almost burned the house down with the waffle iron!!!!
David has his first oceanographic station tomorrow. If you want to see more you can look at http://www.mbari.org/education/cruises/SOFeX2002/Logbook.htm
He is on the Melville (there are 2 ships in this experiment) and they won't start posting updates until tomorrow.
My big news is one of my new Dexters has a mucous discharge and I think she may be losing her plug. Oh my gosh I've never had a cow before (although my teen age daugher might argue that!). Earthmama I've emailed you questions again. I'll keep you guys posted! We've been iced in the last few days so things have been slow here.

You go Kim!! Which one of the girls is it? Is this the first calf for both of you? I'm sure that whatever David is doing, it's not as exciting as what you've got going on, but we'll be checking on him anyway! Hugs heading your way...

Oh how exciting!!! Never birthed a calf before, so I suspect I'd personally be pretty nervous. Bet you are just fine! How David ever got this time selected to leave...well, I dunno!
Time for you to write a book, I daresay! (Actually, wait til he's home to do the chores for you!)
Best wishes to you!!!

Exciting news Kim!!! (about the cow......scary about the waffle iron) I have never actually seen a calf born. Always got there when it was a done deal. I will have to check in on David's site.

Kim,I was just reading the cruise logbook. Have you heard from David since he was delayed by the gale? Hope everything goes well for the Melville and they make it in time to collect maximum data. Tell him I feel for him stuck in a gale like that (been there , done that and don't envy that part of his cruise. I won't even date a girl named Gale now).
Have we got a herd yet??

The latest log entry says the Melville made it through the gale just fine and they're collecting data.Kim, the "People" section on the website has two Davids listed. Is "our" David the one with the snowboarding photo or the one with no photo?

Hi Sherri,Our David has no photo. I tried to get him to let me send one with the cows or sheep but he said no!
I haven't heard from David since they made it on site and I suspect he is snowed under with samples. I know the day before he was planning on sleeping on the floor because he was afraid he'd get thrown from him bunk with the rough seas. Sounds like all is well though.
