Maple Syrup (How-to Info)greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
Because we are so involved in the Maple Syrup Industry, I just wanted to share with all you out there who might be wanting to try your hand at making your own syrup----and those of you already doing it. The following instructions will get you to the entire Maple Syrup Producers Manual, which can be downloaded in it's entirety or piecemeal or just read online. This site has everything you'd be interested in about syrupping. Also, I'd be glad to help if you need further.Go to HTTP://online.ag.ohio-state.edu From there go to Bulletins and at the bottom choose: Bulletins by number. Go to 856 Voila!!

We tried this for the first time last year. We made taps out of sumac and collected in milk jugs tied around the trees. we boiled it down in pots ontop of an outside fire and although it was time consuming, we ate yummy maple syrup all year long
