I am hearing that Bishop Ming will be located most likely at the Missionary Meeting in Jackson. In knowing the work of Bishop Ming and The Late Mrs. Edith Ming, I would hope if this is true a fitting tribute be given to him upon his location. What are your thoughts friends?

Answers

It is not a negative to be Located when one is not able to perform his/her duties. that process was instituted to enable the Church to continue when an individual became incapable of performing his/her duties. The welfare of the Church must take precedence over our concern for individuals. A located bishop receives his full salary and perhaps some of the travel allonces. Not sure about the travel, but they are paid full salary.

The executive section of the budget listed in the 2000 Discipline indicates that our 2 current located bishops recieve their full salary only and no travel allowance or expenses.

It is probable that something may occur in Jackson during the Bishop's Retreat. It has been a sad state of affairs to see persons using a man's sickness and personal misfortune for the implementation of personal agendas and concerns. For the good of his health, he may wish to locate. I am quite sure that preparations have begun to present Bishop Ming with a fitting tribute. Let us pray for Bishop Ming and the entire AME Church! Let us just pray...period!

All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Namibians hold the Mings in high esteemed. With his election and consequent assingnment to the former 15th Episcopal District, came a team who brought a message of hope - keeping hope alive in the heat of apartheid. "I am somebody" was on their lips and the liberation message impacted thousands across the district. "If its to be, its up to me" engraved the AME policy of selfhelp upon our hearts. No bishop to this date was able to match the Ming era of "prosperity and progress" in the 15th Episcopal District, if we gauge progress by the number of persons entering the ministry, number of members joining the AME Church and the number of capital projects (buildings) constructed in their era. Every leader on all levels of the church make mistakes, and many a times we make these istakes because of the people we are surounding ourselves with and because of the information we are fed with. But one thing is clear: people are always divided in the constituencies we lead. Some are more closed to us and feel our warmth and because of the benefits they get seem to be more loyal to us. Some are more distant and remote, and many a times, do not get access to us. And we misjudge these peoples fears, dreams and aspirations. Many a times we hurt them unintentionally. There are two sides two the coin. Let us thank God for the calling and ministry of Bishop Ming and for their collective contributions.
